Into the New World

1 June 2021 0900 It's going to be the time I start my first day of work, my very legit first step into the working world and away from the shelter of being a student. It's also the same day and time I will be receiving the last of my results from my very last semester at NUS.  Guess this is it; a new chapter of my life has begun. The uni that I feared so much to graduate from has left me behind and here I am trying to navigate life in this new world I have barely gotten to explore despite doing an internship previously.  My comfort is that I'm working in an online publication that focuses on Korean culture, lifestyle, music, beauty, etc. Basically everything haha. And it's comforting to know that this is where my interest lies and it's something that I actually legitimately want to do. Like, it's not something where I'm still hesitant about.  Honestly, it checks all the boxes on what I was looking for in my job: being able to do what I like (i.e. creating); ...

well hello there! didn't think i was gonna continue doing this anymore if i were to be honest but wow look at me !! i'm doing it!! so after exchange and internship and the introduction of covid, it was time to go back to the school that i've not been in for the past year.  well- technically i wasn't going back physically  because, you know, covid (': but i was back to studying again! did i still know how to be a student? oh my gosh!  iykyk so it was finally time to take 4k mods!! something that i have been dreading because it just seems so hard and my grades are bad enough as it is to have something so significant drag it down even further. plsplsplspls let me keep my second upper plsplspls   aaannyyywwaaayy overloaded again (what's new, really) but like i always (was it always? or just recently) say, the module i overload with is usually and language and i don't really view language as another module so i don't feel like i'm overloading.  Year of St...

Travelling Thirties

Happy New Year y'all! Not just happy new year but Happy Chinese New Year too! Haha, haven't gotten anything up since the new year began but oh wells~  Today, I watched New Year Blues with Natasha. It's a romance movie directed by Hong Ji Young that focusses on the lives of four couples. There's no overarching storyline that connects all four couples but rather, the vastly different lives and histories of each couple are told with tactful cuts between each couple to clearly convey their stories to us.  ^I don't know why I wrote it like I was writing a (honestly terrible) movie review; maybe I'm too buried in my writing classes and now I'm being influenced by them, haha.  One of the couples in the show is Jae Hun and Jin Ah, where Jin Ah is a 29-year-old (Korean age) lady who took an impulsive 5-day (originally 4-day) trip to Buenos Aires after her boyfriend of six years broke up with her. In Buenos Aires, she meets Jae Hun, a Korean who moved to Argentina in...

So it's been a long time since I've put anything up; definitely because school was really hectic (especially towards the end of the semester), but also because I'm just always lazy as heck hahaha. Still trying to get past that because I know that I'll thank myself in the future if I actually put in the effort to record my day to day life. Anyway, today has been an extremely good day. Like I think it's one of the best days I've had in a long while. It's been such a joyful and fulfilling day and I'm so thankful to have been able to experience a day like this. Truly a day where I can say that I really am contented! Today was actually planned a while back. I had wanted to make churros, but didn't have the piping bags and proper piping tip for churros so I thought of going to Red Man to get them. The nearest one is at Heartbeat@Bedok so I always had the plan in the back of my mind to go. Recently, Pea has taken to cooking and she's been trying all sor...

Thank God (:

This is a little out of place I find, with regards to the types of post I've been posting up here. But since this is a personal blog and not really a site of curated articles, I guess I'll just do as I please hahaha.  So it's not something new that I have interest in acting and performance. I've wanted to be an actor since I was young and I've been struggling a lot with myself with regards to what I can and should do to live life with no regrets. Today, I went for a casting call. It's a casting call of a really popular and well developed company and I honestly saw it as a beacon of hope. I tried to go for one of their casting calls earlier this year, but wasn't able to make it. When I saw it again, I thought that this was God giving me another chance.  But then it had to clash with class, so I thought I wouldn't be able to go, yet again. Stupid me didn't check my emails properly because the class it supposedly clashed with didn't happen today!! T...

Producer and Performer

Kpop has gained so much traction in the past decade. As such, it has also evolved greatly to catch up with the times and suit the needs of consumers. Having been a fan of Kpop since 2011, probably some time in the late second generation or early third generation, I have seen Kpop grow and evolve over the past 9 years. So much has changed, but one thing stands out the most to me.  The demand for idols to be their own producers.  Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for idols writing their own songs, choreographing their own dances, maybe even directing their own  music videos (MVs). I think it's great! It's also a testament to the company's trust (or if you want to look at it negatively: dependence) on their creative direction to give (or share) the reins and help them produce a sound and look that is truly theirs.   But I'm also starting to see a lot of fans(?) demean, degrade, and regard with contempt idols that don't write their own music, or take part in prod...
