reaching out through the power of music
i actually have quite a lot of pending work ahead of me but i really felt that i had to jot this down
so i just came back from small group and i'm just so thankful for this group?? i'm so thankful for the people that i've met and for all the help they've given me. i'm thankful for how loving they are and how authentic and genuine we can be with each other. yes, sometimes the things we say may not always be right but i think we're really open and we can understand each other? especially like we come from different churches and sometimes i feel like there's this unnecessary competition between churches? like sometimes i feel as if churches or church members want the church to be known as the "best church" or the "better church" the church with "better music", "better pastors", "better sermons". but i feel so thankful that we are all able to gather and talk about church and stuff without unintentionally implying that our church is the best church? like why the competition? we're all here to serve one God aren't we? there's no need to compare between ourselves.
anyway that's not my point.
so in my small group, today there were only 3 of us and interestingly all 3 of us are involved musically. one's a singer, one's a pianist and i'm a dancer. and we were talking about the power of music. the power of worship songs. the singer was saying how it would be nice if there could be a band in my rc that sings worship songs. like apparently there was once a worship song was performed and people really loved it but they didn't even know it was a worship song.
and sometimes i just feel like, can you imagine the impact of a song on someone? how a song can truly reveal God's presence that sometimes sermons and testimonies just can't? like. i always thought that if i ever teach a class, i will use a worship song for that class. why? because my prayer is that someone who comes in with troubles and seeking for someone to lean on will hear the song and really experience God's goodness through that song. i'm not good at reaching out to others and this is one of the biggest ways i want to reach out. i always thought how cool would it be if there was a kpop band that did all worship songs??? like kpop yes, so people do listen to it. but when they listen to the music closely, they can understand the meaning of the lyrics and maybe it can speak to them? can you imagine how many people this could reach out to? can you imagine how many lives this could touch?
i once had something like a vision or something that i was doing an instalive and was just worshipping God by dancing to a playlist of worship songs. and people were watching it (idk whether was i some celebrity or what but yeah) and i know that there's no need to be a good dancer to worship God through dance. and when you serve, when you worship with dance, it is so that others can see God through you and i really want to be able to do that. i want to be able to point others to God in my dance. and idk that scene is really just embedded in me. will i be able to do this? will i be able to help others and point them to God? firstly, i want to know how to reach out to my friends. i want to know how to be able to invite them to church.
anyway, as of now, all the classes that i've taught (like the choreographies i've made) have been with worship songs and i really want to stick it that way? i have to choreograph and teach a class to planetshaker's let's go and i'm honestly really excited about it but at the same time quite stressed and worried because i'm afraid that i can't choreo a good piece?
Father Lord,
thank You Lord, thank You so much for putting me in this place, in this place with so many like-minded genuine people who i can really share my thoughts with.
Lord, thank You for this opportunity to be a choreo for rag and i pray that Lord, i will be able to reach out to even just one soul in this rag journey. Lord, i pray for Your guidance, wisdom, and blessing and i choreo to let's go. Lord, i want to be able to glorify You through my dance and my choreographies Lord. thank You so much for blessing me with such opportunities and abilities. i may not be the best, but Lord, i don't dance to be the best. i dance to be able to praise You and glorify You, that others may see You through me. Lord, i pray that i will constantly remember this. i pray that i will not dance for my own glory but always remember that all i am is because of You.
Lord, i pray that i will be able to come up with a nice and impactful choreography for whoever that'll be coming for my class Lord.
i commit vetting into Your mighty hands Lord. i pray that my friends will like my choreography and that i can teach it and i pray that it really just reaches out to whoever that needs it Lord.
thank You Lord for all that You have blessed me with thus far and i pray that i will be able to make use of my gifts wisely to praise You.
In Jesus' Name i pray,
Amen
Hope™
